Let me know if you think WED should be taking up any of these, or when we should run a meeting to consider submissions to the Long Term Plan. There are other issues such as the stranded bus passengers, which may well be discussed.

WED met planners to talk about the Scoping Plan. They expect it to go to public consultation in 2 months, but only on CBD issues. Let me know if you’d like more detail.
Hope to see you at the Dolphin Day 10-5 on Te Kopua domain this Saturday.

Thanks

John.

  1. This Monday morning, I was horrified to see the area under the big old pohutukawa being resealed with heavy machinery. I do not understand why vehicles and road signs are given precedence in our town over trees and pedestrians. With the extra semi circle of parking around Bow Street and Wallis street, it is dangerous to walk across to cliff street. I would like to see better protection of the tree and people and create a green area there where people can gather safely under the shade of this tree.

    1. My understanding is that the work done was maintenance to eliminate the very bad potholes. What you are dvocating is a change to a green area- there is a public community session on the future of the CBD area coming up soon with WDC planning staff. That will provide an opportunity for people to have their say on what happens to areas like this one.
