What better way to support local artists than the Raglan Spirit of Christmas art sale and exhibition at the Old School Arts Centre. Celebrating the festive season with a stunning array of art and crafts, from handcrafted ceramics, glass and visual art to food and feel-good products, the exhibition caters to all tastes and budgets ranging in price from $5 to $500.
Spirit of Christmas is always a great hit and she looks forward to featuring work by local artists. The exhibition gives local artists the opportunity to showcase and sell their work at a busy retail time of the year. And it’s a great way to do all your plastic-free, sustainable and uniquely-crafted Christmas shopping in one place, and not have to leave town.
Exhibition Curator Susanne Giessen-Prinz
In its seventh year, the exhibition features Christmas decorations, edible creations, candles, visual and sculptural art, house plants, jewellery and keepsakes in glass, gemstones and multimedia, wood work and more – all handmade locally.
This year, local artists include ceramic artists Susan Flight, Merren Goodison, Susanne Giessen-Prinz, Justine Davies, and Lindy Moir, boutique skincare and preserved flowers by Juul de Schouwer of Marama, Raewyn Fitch’s glass art, leaf dyed cushions and ceramics by Lynette Rogers, Colleen Parkes paintings and smaller items and Maureen Soanes’ driftwood trees and brownie jars.
Orders for Christmas cakes in beautiful handcrafted bowls by Sarah Bing are also being taken – cost $45. Get your orders in by Sunday 5 December, ready for pick up December 16-17. The exhibition is a fundraiser for the Old School’s clay shed.
