Raglan Chamber of Commerce gauging demand for Email workshop

RCoC300X175Raglan Chamber of Commerce is gauging demand for an Email workshop. It is asking members about whether they would be interested in a workshop on Emailing.

The Chamber has pointed out that sending unsolicited commercial electronic messages (emails, texts, faxes or instant messaging) could result in a fine of up to $500,000.

While that’s possibly the worst case scenario, your email, text or fax could easily suffer one of these fates:

  • It’s delivered straight into your customers ‘junk’ folder where they are unlikely to see it
  • Your email is treated as spam by your customers ISP provider and never gets to them
  • Your email is treated as spam by your ISP and your website is shut down
  • It isn’t such a big deal to make sure your emails are received and that they comply with the law. And let’s face it, no-one wants to annoy their customers.

The Chamber has had feedback from some of their members that a greater understanding of email protocols would be useful.

Email Workshop
They are investigating having a 2-hour workshop specifically dedicated to teaching the email protocols needed for small business. They hope to include a basic training in using MailChimp – a free online emailing application. But first they are checking that they have sufficient interest to make it worthwhile.

If you are interested please contact the Chamber. If they get sufficient ‘yeses’ they’ll organise the workshop, advertise it and send you an invite.
