CANCELLED: Raglan Arts Weekend Kicks off Climate Change Themed Opening

Raglan Arts Weekend news

As required by Covid-19 Govt policy the Raglan Arts Weekend at Easter 2020 and the Preview Exhibition are cancelled.

The countdown is on for the Raglan Arts Weekend at Easter, and next week sees the opening of the Preview Exhibition show in Raglan.

“We’re shaking things up this year, and for the first time, we will have a theme for the showcase artworks from our 37 participating artists,” says Raglan Arts Weekend co-ordinator Nicky Brzeska. “We’re asking artists to really challenge themselves and develop work that speaks to our ‘Talking about Climate Change’ theme. It’s a subject that resonates well in our eco-conscious seaside town, and we’re hoping it will entice a broader audience to come and see how it is interpreted.”

As per tradition, visitors will also be able to pick up an exclusive 300×300 piece from a favourite artist for $200, but there’s only one per artist and so interested folk will have to be quick. These pieces have proved popular among art lovers wanting to add affordable artworks by NZ artists to their collection.

Celebrated NZ artist Jane Galloway’s climate change submission, ‘Scream Now’.

It’s not only about buying art; visitors will also be able to discover new talent, catch up with established favourites and see what they’ve been up to, as well as plan who they want to visit over the Arts Weekend.

The Preview Exhibition will run from Thursday March 19th until Monday April 13th from 10am until 2pm at the Old School.

The Raglan Arts Weekend will run over three days in Easter from the Saturday 11 April to Monday 13th April. It is a self-guided art trail visiting open studios of the very best artists that Whaingaroa has on offer.
