Raglan Arts Weekend was booming on Saturday 20th and continues on Sunday or Monday. There are some great pieces on offer at the studios and it’s just a lot of fun.
Also, if you’re struggling to get a table in town on Sunday, head to “Eats and Treats”, a collection of yummy coffee/food/ treats stalls outside the Raglan Old School Arts Centre at 5 Stewart Street.
Some foodie favourites include Pie Kai’s hand crafted pies made from locally sourced produce, with fresh and tasty ingredients, unique recipes, the coffee guru Mal will be on the grind for coffees, Raglan Chocolate with their tasty ethically sourced and crafted locally chocolate delights.
Plus Etai with authentic falafels and ULO’s Kitchen with great Japanese and Korean cuisine.
Visitors and locals get a chance to visit Sam Mathers’ new studio which opened just in time for the Weekend, as well as some other hot favourites including Miranda Caird, Toni Kingstone, Rick Youmans and The Monster Company. Some studios have multiple artists on site, such as Studeo where taxidermy, panel & paint and clay come together, or Palm Prints where Jane Galloway, Stuart Mackenzie and Julian Godfrey reside.
The Old School Arts Centre has three artist studios inlcuding the Clay Shed, plus the Raglan Writer’s Collective as well as the Preview Exhibition where you’ll be able to get a taste of the arts trail to help you plan your visit. Also on offer is ‘Eats and Treats’, a collection of delicious food stalls open from 10am-3pm on the Saturday and Sunday.
For full details of each participating artist and directions to their studios, pick up a copy of the official Raglan Arts Trail Brochure, designed by Raglan-based agency Mafia Designs.
