Raglan Artists Spring Exhibition

By Susan Guenther, Old School Arts Centre

To celebrate the arrival of spring, the members of the Old School Arts Centre have put together a group show where a variety of artistic styles will come together. The public will have a great opportunity to experience first-hand the creativity of our local artisans.

We hope that spring is on its way and thought that an exhibition at this time would lift the spirits of everyone who came along….This is a fun event and we urge people to come and see what Raglan artists are all about.”  (Exhibition Curator Ro Fawcett)

The members of the Raglan Old School Arts Centre are a network of people who support this thriving hub for the arts, and enjoy the resources and social benefits it has to offer. Many are professional artists who exhibit in galleries all over NZ.

Ro has brought together a diverse range of exhibitors: an established fabric artist whose work will be displayed here for the first time, a farmer who breeds and trains polo ponies, a well known interior decorator, and others with creative lifestyles. Paintings, drawings, fabric art and sculpture will be amongst the collection of work to be shown.

For the exhibitors, Ro says this will be “…an opportunity to engage with the public who are interested in art and the many artisans that we have in raglan and surrounds…”

The exhibition will be launched at 11am on Saturday 1st September with a glass of champagne or orange juice, and a nibble or two. During the course of the exhibition there will be an artist present, eager to discuss the work on display.

Where: The Raglan Old School Arts Centre, 5 Stewart St.
When: Saturday 1st September – Sunday 30th September.
Times: The gallery will be open on Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays from 10 am – 2 pm
