Raglan artist publishes book on Te Uku Post Office history

After selecting the old Te Uku Post Office as a subject and completing a charcoal sketch of it, Raglan artist, Dot Williams became so interested in the old building that she wrote and published a book about it.   Published in the zine style Dot’s book starts in the days before the present building when the Post Office was in the Moon family’s Lynwood homestead.    The building people now know as the Te Uku Post Office was built in 1924.   Dot covers well the comings and goings of the Post Office, its staff  and the manual telephone exchange.  The art studio period after the Post Office closed in 1988 through to 2010 is also covered.  The building has recently been renovated and reopened as the Te Uku Roast Office serving espresso coffee to travellers.
