A mountain of creativity was on show yesterday (Saturday 31st May) in the Raglan Town Hall with Raglan Art to Wear 2014. Art to Wear goddess Jean Carbon said she was amazed by the ideas and work that had gone into the creations, especially from the children. The judges Wanda Barker, Xavier Meade and Stuart Sheppard said that it was a hard call deciding on the winners, especially in the Rummage section. In that section the judges decided to award four Highly Recommended prizes.
The Lions Supreme Award went to Ruth Port for her raranga work ‘Hine Wainui’, crafted in harakeke dyed teal blue. The second Supreme Award went to Annick Faubert & Candide Le Courtois for creation of ‘Reverence’ based around Annick’s taxidermy skills.
Athene Jensen (AJ) did an excellent job as MC. Ashley Knox on guitar provided pre-show entertainment.
A selection of the Raglan Art to Wear creations will be on display in the Take a 2nd Look at Art to Wear exhibition at the Raglan Old School Arts Centre in Stewart St from Monday 2nd June. Open from 10am to 2pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays until June 23rd.
