Gibbison is a well-known name in Raglan, with William Gibbison settling in the area in 1855. Now two descendants, sisters Dorothy Baucke and Joan Fear have decided to share the wartime diary of their father, Frank Gibbison for first time. In an article in the weekly magazine, Your Weekend they have opened the diary he kept as a 23-year old serving in the 4th Waikato Mounted Rifles on Gallipoli peninsula. Badly wounded in the leg by a Turkish Bomb he was recovered by other New Zealanders and eventually sent home.
