A large number of art lovers attended the opening preview last night at the Old School (Friday 24 January). The art lovers were able to see an example of work from each of the participating artists and chat to the 27 artists. This allowed visitors to plan their itinerary for the weekend.
Running from Saturday 25 to Monday 27 January, Raglan Arts Weekend is a unique opportunity to discover the diverse talents of the local artist community.
Open Studios: Pick up a copy of the 2014 Raglan Arts Weekend Guide and head off on a trail of discovery around Raglan. Artists participating in the tour work in wide variety of art forms, including painting, sculpture, photography, jewellery and wearable art.
Studios will be open from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Each artist will have work on display and available for purchase, and will be on hand to talk about their creative thoughts and processes. Studios will be clearly signposted, with easy access for people of all ages.
Several of the artists will be working in studio situations at the Old School Arts Centre in Stewart St. And as well as that the Raglan Creative Market will be running at the Old School from 10am to 3pm for each of the three days.
Copies of the guide can be found at the Raglan Information Centre, the Raglan Old School Arts Centre in Stewart Street, at Raglan cafés and galleries and many other outlets throughout the Waikato and Auckland. In 2014, it will also be included as an insert in the Raglan Chronicle.
