Raglanite John Lawson has discovered that the temporary one-way road in Raglan’s Cliff Street is about to be locked in with a Council bylaw. The temporary one-way system has been in use for over two years.
In an email to Cliff St locals, John said, “What has up to now been an advisory one-way will become law, if WDC’s proposed Traffic bylaw goes to a hearing and is passed. The chair of the Community Board also says, “this is an opportunity to include Boat ramp fees which have been discussed in the past. . . We also need to consider if we make a submission on Lime scooters”.
The proposed bylaw includes parking limits and one-way and says, “Raglan Cliff Road [sic] in a westerly direction from 120m west of Bow Street to Puriri Street” [There’s no exemption for cyclists, though Cliff St one way section still has only 1 recorded crash, compared to a dozen on Wallis St, including one cyclist].”
John went on to ask the Cliff Street residents, “Do you want to put in your own submission, exchange emails about it, or meet to chat about it? We have just over a week to 27 March to put in submissions about it.”
John says that WDC also consulting on a Public Places bylaw and he has included comments about horses, skateboards, etc in this Google doc he has done about Wednesday’s Community Board meeting.
