A week ago a terse note appeared on the Waikato District Council’s FB saying it was OK to use Raglan Habour again. I have been trying since then to obtain official confirmation that it is safe for people to once more swim, fish and collect shellfish in the Raglan harbour.
WDC’s Wastewater GM Tim Harty has now released this statement: “Testing of the water in Raglan harbour has been ongoing since the spill in July. Once the advisory signs are removed, which was completed last week, it is once again safe to swim, fish and collect shellfish in the Raglan harbour. We thank the public for their patience during this time.”
So it is officially OK to use the harbour again.
Let’s hope it will be a long time before Mr Harty has to issue the next banning order.
