Last week Raglan Ramblers walked to the windfarm on the Pipiwharauroa Way. This week, they will be going to the other end of the wind farm, where they’ll compare the size of the microwave tower with the turbines and look down on Whaingaroa Harbour. The farm track climbs over 350m in a bit over two kilometres. It crosses the Vanhoutte Fault, which is one of the three major faults delineating the harbour. They haven’t been up there since the wind farm was built in 2011, so it’ll be interesting to see how much this scene has changed. Please bring your lunch for this one.

Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
