In a move not publicly announced, NZ Post plans to reduce service in Raglan by removing the post box at the corner of Lorenzen Bay Road and Simon Road. A small notice on what NZ Post calls a ‘Street Receiver’, says that the post box will be removed in the week ending 2nd October due to low volume usage. This means that the last collection at the box will be on 30th September. The nearest post box for Lorenzen Bay residents after that date will be the one outside the Post Shop in Bow Street, Raglan.
Are more post cuts planned? Among the ‘public excluded’ items on council’s agenda at http://waidc.govt.nz/CMSFiles/2f/2fd69342-e0d6-4403-acb0-28d68a7521ab.pdf was ‘Raglan – NZ Post’. It isn’t mentioned in Tuesday’s RCB agenda – even the upgrade of the former PO (now library) has dropped off the agenda.
The new roof for the Raglan library and the increased floor area were on the Mayor’s pre-election list of what he had already achieved for Raglan. They have probably come off the agenda as the Mayor thinks they are already complete.
Why would the NZ Post item be public excluded? Hard to think why it was.
