View on the Pirongia walk – Imge John Lawson

On November 9th, Raglan Ramblers are off to Pirongia for an overnight walk with a stay in Pahautea Hut. They say that the last time they were there they could see Ruapehu and the surrounding countryside at sunset. They’ve all day to climb 860 metres up the 10.7 kilometre Tahuanui Track. All 20 bunks in the hut ($5) are booked for the Ramblers. Remember to bring two lunches, dinner and breakfast.

There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook-https://www.facebook.com/RaglanRamblers/. Most walks start at 9am from the James St/ Wallis St corner near Catholic church.
