Nov 13: Ramblers off to enjoy bird sounds on Sanctuary Mountain

On November 13th, Raglan Ramblers will be making another long drive east to Maungatautari – Sanctuary Mountain. They say they plan to enjoy the bird sounds in this area of bush. The sanctuary area is surrounded by 47 kilometres of predator-proof fencing. They may split into two groups. The energetic group will climb the 753m Pukeatua Peak by the rugged ridge route with great views. The other group will strolling into the Southern Enclosure ($18, $12 senior), to see the takahe, doing more watching and listening and climbing the platform into the canopy. Please bring your lunch.
