The next Board meeting is Tuesday 11 Nov at 6pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 5.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues.

The agenda is at http://www.waikatodistrict.govt.nz/CMSFiles/32/324c9b96-9cec-4a60-ad49-d81339908e5c.pdf.

Items on the agenda include –

1. ‘Long Term Plan Road Show’ – verbal report to be given on responses to the 20 Oct Priority Project questionnaire, which may explain why 2 sets of forms were printed.

2. “Council has received advice [not copied] that it is not appropriate for full copies of [Resource consent] applications to be shared with the public prior to a decision being made on notification”, though decisions are still at http://waidc.govt.nz/Services/Resource-and-subdivision-consents.aspx. The latest shows approval to “Locate a transportable cabin on site” at the campground. No further mention of providing past information for more than a week.

3. Riki Spring water treatment works preparing to come online (5 months late).

4. Water meters – RCB asked for a cost/benefit analysis. Report shows cost of $2,095,870 and $25 per meter per year running cost, but doesn’t quantify the benefits.

5. Whaanga Coast sewage completion by Tuesday.

6. Wharf pontoon – tender accepted, plan to complete by Christmas.

7. Wharf carpark – working with Soul Shoes on plan to paint spaces.

8. Manu Bay boat ramp – RCB request for an engineer’s report not met. “Signs warning of potential hazards are to be erected”. Ramp repairs scheduled through the financial year, but schedule not shown.

9. Laundromat mobility car park rejected by staff.

10. Footbridge signs were to be completed by mid November, but only mentioned in funding report.

11. Parks Strategy “circulated to agreed parties for comment”.

12. Sports Park Management Plan lists Raglan Recreation Centre (rugby ground) and Waitetuna Recreation Reserve. Council is inviting ideas.

13. Parking warden visits weekly.

14. Town Hall Committee plan to replace broken chairs and paint toilet and foyer floors. $5,000 was spent on maintenance at the Old School.

15. Customer Report Management calls in October dropped from 1,717 to 1,645, but those dealt with on time fell from 89.1% to 88.5%.

16. Coastal Reserves Committee minutes of 8/9 (13/10 minutes came too late for agenda).

17. Discretionary fund has $21,041. 5pm Fri 9/1 is the next deadline for applications. RSA want $4,825 for display cabinets at the Club, Community House want $1,894 for a community notice board, Arts Centre want $5,000 for a new cinema projector.

Are there any other issues WED should be taking up? The September agenda said a report on a Heated Swimming Pool had been requested for this month; it’s not on the agenda. Other items not on the agenda include the sewage control system (Tuesday’s Infrastructure agenda says it’s 80% complete and James St upgrade is to be complete by 19 Dec and cost $448,939 – the plans for that and $180,693 Norrie Ave upgrade in Jan/Feb have not been on the RCB agenda but are here), Waingaro Hot Springs, Vodafone, CBD extension was to be notified in October.

Good to see Regional Council is proposing a target of an hourly bus service on weekdays. Please put in a submission along these lines – I support the target (page 73) of an hourly Raglan weekday service but believe Sunday and evening buses are also needed. There is no explanation, but presumably it’s been recognised that the contract, which expires in 2017, is costing about twice as much as the Education Ministry would pay for the number of buses and that extra fares will make up any difference. It will help put Raglan on the main tourist route and allow GoldCard holders to travel both ways, without adding to our traffic and parking problems. Thank you.
