Raglan Coastguard, Raglan Surf Life Saving Club, the Police and the Westpac Rescue helicopter were called out on Saturday 28th rescue services when a member of the public called emergency services about 12.45 to say they had saw a boat being overturned by a wave.

An extensive search has failed to find a boat reported missing off the coast of Raglan, leaving emergency services puzzled.

Police northern communications shift inspector Tony Wakelin said the search had not found any signs of a boat in trouble.

“Nothing was located … nothing at all, so it’s still a bit of a mystery at the moment,”  Wakelin said.

The emergency services were stood down.
