Media Release: Waikato District Council, 27 May 2016
Possible wastewater overflow in Raglan
A wastewater overflow has possibly occurred on Thursday, 26 May, near the Whitley Avenue/Wainui Road intersection.
Waikato District Council staff were on site immediately and have now began to investigate the nature and quantity of the possible overflow, or if in fact this has occurred.
The reason for the uncertainty stems from the high level of rainfall at the time.
Staff will be able to confirm on Monday whether a wastewater overflow has occurred.
“As a precaution, Council staff are currently on their way to put up signs advising against swimming and collecting shellfish until further notice around Raglan Harbour,” Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery, Tim Harty says.
