WAIKATO DISTRICT COUNCIL AWARDS WAINUI ROAD WATERMAIN CONTRACT TO POTTER CIVIL ENGINEERING

Work on the Wainui Road (Raglan) watermain upgrade begins next week (w/c June 17) with Waikato District Council awarding the contract to Potter Civil Engineering Contractors.

Waikato District Council General Manager Service Delivery, Tim Harty says the watermains are being replaced due to the age and condition of existing pipes and the project will be completed by mid August.

Mr Harty says the safety of road users and residents during the project is extremely important. “One lane of Wainui Road from Helen Place to Marine Parade and one lane of Whitley Street may be closed during the construction period and that could cause delays at various times. We would ask drivers in the area to take care and reduce speed over the contract period.”

He says it’s unlikely access to properties will be affected during the project however drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes along Stewart Street and Norrie Avenue.

The full work schedule involves the replacement of approximately 800 metres of water main pipes.

Any queries regarding the project should be directed to Nick Mounsey, Project Engineer at Waikato District Council on 0800 492 452.
