New toilets are being installed in Joyce Petchell Park, Wainui Road, Raglan. The old toilets in Joyce Petchell Park were demolished to make way for construction of the new museum. In the meantime a temporary double portaloo was in service until recently.
The new double toilet is a “Jupiter” model being supplied by the Exeloo company. The toilets will be of the self-cleaning type which play music to the users. In an environmental friendly move, Waikato District Council is providing water for the toilets from rainwater collected from the roof of new museum building. An article in the Waikato Times of 10th September surveying toilets around the Waikato described this model of toilet as ‘clean but scary‘.
This shiny new $250,00 “Jupiter” interactive exhibit showing the connections; the relationship between fresh water and Raglan’s historical sewerage seep to sea is compelling stuff.
