Lisa Thomson and Kelly Clarkson, the two new members of Raglan Community Board, were at the meeting on Tuesday to make their statement of allegiance. Although this was on the agenda, election timing considerations meant it could take place. A special meeting of the Board will be held on June 30 at 4.30pm for the swearing in. Also at the meeting was Mrs Barbara Kuriger, our MP for Taranaki/King Country, who addressed the Board on her activities.
Steve Soanes, the recently retired Raglan Manager for WDC was also at the meeting.
The Board was also given updates on sewage plant improvements and the Ultrafast Broadband and Rural Broadband Initiative.
Again we see the problem with getting Auckland consultants to report on Raglan. In their report on the Karioi track, $18,000 of the $50,800 of the recommended scheme (good that the Board opted for the cycle scheme) is to provide 4 car park spaces, seemingly because the consultants weren’t aware of the link track to Wainui Reserve 200m down the road. Surely we use volunteers to make better use of the money and not cost $2,000 for a stile and a few posts? I wonder how much of the $70,000 in the 2013 Long Term Plan has been paid to the consultants?
you are right John
