New manager settles in at Raglan House

The Raglan House (formerly known as the Raglan Community House) has a new manager. Mike Rarere took up the position a couple of months ago.  Here is some information about him.

Mike was born in Napier, raised in Tauranga, and now lives in Raglan. He is a graduate of Te Whare Wananga o Waikato. (University of Waikato) and began working in the Community Sector in 1993 as a youth worker in South Auckland. Following a couple of years based in Hong Kong where he worked in the Security Sector, he returned to NZ, working with Youth and Community based in Hamilton from 1997 until 2016.

Highlights include being the 2006 Trust Waikato Child and Family Awards ‘Outstanding Individual Service’ Recipient and producing the annual ‘Beatstreet’ Aotearoa HipHop Youth Festival 2001-2010.

Before joining The Raglan House, Mike was Manager at Te Whare o te Ata Fairfield/Chartwell Community Centre from 2014-2016 Mike has over 10 years experience in network/meeting facilitation and Radio Broadcasting. He has also had more than a decade’s experience in Governance as a Trustee for Te Runanga o Kirikiriroa Urban Maori Authority. Mike is married with one child. He enjoys Martial Arts training, listening to music, reading, cooking and being with family.
