Although kids have been using it for a while, the new bike track at Te Kopua was officially opened last night (22.11.12) at 6pm. The bike track was the brain child of Dirk De Ruysscher who along with other locals donated their time to the project. The construction costs for BMX track adjoining Raglan’s skatepark and soccer fields came to $35,000. This was funded entirely from a grant by the Raglan Kopua Holiday Park Board. The 400-metre long track should be a challenging circuit for young bike-riders.
The BMX track and the adjacent fitness trail was blessed by Minister Rhonda Chung, kaumatuas Paddy Kaa and Sean Ellinson. Dirk De Ruysscher and members of the Kopua Holiday Park Board, Councillor Allan Morse, Community Board Chair Rodger Gallagher and Council officials attended the blessing. Immediately afterwards the young riders put the track to the test.
