Decorators are busy inside the new Raglan Museum & Information Centre adding the finishing touches to the building. And now work has started on hooking up services and completing the grounds. The museum is being built by Livingston Construction for the Waikato District Council at a cost of just under $1 million. It is expected that the building will be completed by mid August allowing the Raglan Museum Society and the Information Centre to start setting up inside the building.
Anybody wanting to take an early peek inside the new museum should go to the Old School on Saturday night. This coming Saturday night is a PechaKucha Night at the Old School Arts Centre with eight short presentations. Jamie Bruce who designed the new museum will be one of the presenters. He’ll talking about what inspired him and the challenges of designing a building of this type on the challenging Petchell Park site, covering the creative process he used for designing the building. He’ll also be covering construction with photos from inside the building.
