Plastics are a valuable resource and as a result the market demand for them is increasing. Xtreme Waste has recently made the decision to increase the types of plastics that it collects to include a wider range of types.
The different types of plastics can be identified by a number contained in a triangle of arrows located on the container. Until recently only plastics with the numbers 1, 2, and 5 on them have been collected for recycling in Raglan, but an increase in market demand has meant that collections can now be expanded to include containers with the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7.
There are still a few things that will not be collected , these include, polystyrene packaging, meat trays, lids, polystyrene takeaway containers and empty motor oil containers. To make the job of the recycling collectors easier wash and squash plastic containers and remove lids.
