The public open day organised by Waikato District Council, with support from local Raglan businesses and community organisations will be held at the wharf from 1pm to 4pm.
Mayor Sanson said the Raglan wharf building had been missed by the Raglan and wider community since the former 1920s building was destroyed by fire on 13 April 2010.
“Raglan has always been a key destination within our district and the wharf an important focal point for the community, with all the usual activity associated with a busy working wharf, including fishing, charter and tour boats, as a base for the Raglan Coastguard and the home to a variety of recreational activities,” he said.
Mayor Sanson said he would like to encourage people to come along and see the new Raglan wharf building, which he described as a community asset.
Great to see the wharf rebuild soon to be open. I admire the patience of Raglan people waiting two years for the rebuild.
