On the 23rd March Raglan Ramblers will be heading down into Te Toto Gorge. It is down 200 metres to some of the most spectacular part of Raglan’s coast. If they’ve got the energy along the way they’ll be visiting the old pa sites. Twenty six different layers of lavas and ashes have been identified in the gorge, the oldest being before a change in the earth’s magnetic field 2.54 million years ago. There are also remnants of stone gardens and whares in the gorge. On the way back they could visit the very large puriri tree in the valley below the road. Please bring your lunch for this walk.

Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station).  There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs.  Details from John 825 7866.   Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
