On the 20th March, Raglan Ramblers are heading to Arapuni. This will be a chance to walk some of the Waikato River Trail, see the dam and cross the long suspension bridge over the gorge. Please bring lunch.

The walk starts at Little Waipā Reserve. To get to Little Waipa Reserve you can either drive from Highway 1 to Horahora road then approx 9kms to Little Waipa Reserve or via Te Awamutu/ Kihikihi/ Arapuni/ Horahora Rd. Park cars at the Little Waipa Reserve.

The walk is along the river trail towards Arapuni coming off the track at Power House road. Then walk to the left up the road for about 100 metres, turning right and walk along the bush track for about a kilometre until the Arapuni Suspension Bridge. There is a picnic area near the bridge or alternatively Ramblers may walk a short way up to the village where the Rhubarb Cafe is located. Then they’ll walk back to the track and return the same way to Little Waipa Reserve. Note Driving from Raglan is about 100 kilometres in 1½ hrs each way.

There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Most walks start at 9am from the James St/ Wallis St corner near Catholic church.

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
