On the 2nd March, Raglan Ramblers will be returning to the Kaitoke Walkway. This is a six kilometre morning walk around the centre of Raglan on beach, walkways and roads. Most of Raglan’s walkways are unmarked, so this is a chance to find out where they are. The Cornish boiler in the photo from about 1902 is now more overgrown than it was in this 2008 photo, but still remains from George Rutherford’s mill at Flax Cove.
Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook
Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
