Mar 14: Raglan Community Board meeting

The next meeting of the Raglan Community Board is on Tuesday 14 March at 2pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 1.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues. You can also contact the members. See list below.

The agenda includes –

  1. Sewage spills January – 3 complaints, yet no requests re sewage overflows. “investigations to Scada link between Ngaruawahia and Raglan is well underway”
  2. Map shows work on sewers, boat ramps, carpark, rugby lights and water mains (click on symbol) and another for roading – culverts in Gilmour St and Stewart St, SH23 safety works, resealing on Wainui Rd, Wainamu Rd, Marine Pde, Greenslade Rd, SH23, Te Mata Rd, Ruapuke Rd, Kawhia Rd, power supply East St area
  3. Service requests 1/7 to 28/2/2017 5 of 11 Environmental Health Complaint dealt with slowly.
  4. Youth Action Group to be set up with $500- $1000 to spend on projects by 30 June.
  5. Raglan Coastal Reserves Minutes – 13 Feb – investigate pushing sand back at Riria Kereopa Dr car park, Ngarunui Beach road sign at gate closing times to be 9:30pm (summer), 5:30pm (winter), “stay off dunes” signs either side of surf club tower, 13 March meeting to discuss commercial activities on reserves.
  6. DHB 14 member Consumer Council to be appointed via an open Expression of Interest process.
  7. Xtreme Waste – rubbish over the Christmas period and collection times.
  8. Grass Verges “General Manager, Service Delivery will be in attendance. “650 letters posted . . . 112 responses requesting an exemption. . . 58% were granted”
  9. Discretionary fund has $5,289. Junior Soccer Club want $1,558.98 for goal posts and net sets. Next deadline for applications 7 Apr.
  10. Road names – list of names for future roads – 12 settlers + Mataira.
  11. Raglan-Hamilton bus – RCB delivered survey forms.
  12. Sewage public education started by RCB.
  13. RCB evening workshop – included water meters, buses, parking, social housing, parking infringement money, harbour lease [only on agenda in Cr and Chair’s reports].
  14. Long Term Plan – survey and comments will be sent to the Project Focus Groups of Raglan Naturally. Results – (1) Continuing development of footpaths 83, (4) Whale Bay to Manu Bay walkway 53, (2) Heated swimming pool 43, (5) Public transport 40, (3) Central Business parking 40, (7) Convert Cliff Street to one-way traffic 36, (8) Complete upgrading the entrance to Raglan 33, (6) Establish Wi Neera Street property as a green reserve 29, Raglan Naturally 356.
  15. Raglan Naturally meeting the Mayor.
  16. T-Bar Swings – “No availability of swings due to national recall.”
  17. Kopua Camp minutes don’t go to RCB because RCB Chair is on the Kopua Board
  • – eroding banks – report back to May meeting
  1. Councillor’s report – 2 page list, including Toilets Strategy workshop [“refurbishment of the existing Raglan Town Hall toilet facilities is the preferred option”, average use of automatic toilets 17 per day, Cliff St 126], volunteer litter clearing and Healthy Rivers.
  2. Placemaking – 24-26/3 memorial seat paint workshop

Should WED be taking up these, or any other issues missing from the agenda, such as freedom camping patrols, Karioi track, water meters, glyphosate, Trails Strategy, volunteer worker safety, or stormwater daylighting?

We’ve got a month to submit on the Waikato Plan. On climate change it says, “New Zealand’s actions to reduce climate change are primarily a Central Government role. . . Encourage people and organisations to reduce their contribution to climate change . . . Of special interest is an increase in the number of electric car recharge points in the Waikato.” Any thoughts on a WEDsubmission please?
