Mar 1: Whāingaroa now at 95 Covid cases

23 new Covid cases today has moved Raglan Whāingaroa up to a total of 95 cases on Tuesday 1st March.

Our updated projection of Raglan Whāingaroa cases based on Waikato DHB data, using polynomial curve fit modelling, indicates that there may be over 190 community cases in Raglan by 6th March. See graph.

Waikato DHB says that the total number of cases reported are expected to be lower than actual cases in the community as we have transitioned to the Phase 3 response. They will continue to assess current data to ensure it is meaningful.

Raglan Rapid Antigen Testing (RATs) Community Collection Site operated by Waikato DHB is at Raglan Rugby Sports Club, Cross St, Raglan. It is open all of this week Mon 28 – Sun 6 from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM.

Testing by appointment is available from Raglan Medical Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
and Raglan Pharmacy Monday to Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

There are 1717 new cases in the Waikato today Tuesday 1st March. Please see image for locations. The total number of cases in this Waikato outbreak as shown below is now 10,278 (7406 active and 2872 recovered).

There were 2099 vaccinations given in Waikato yesterday.

There are 23 COVID-19 positive individuals receiving care at Waikato DHB hospitals – this is a mix of patients who are receiving care for COVID-19 and those receiving care for an unrelated condition who have also tested positive.

Note: Previously listed case locations will at times be reclassified following investigations. Some cases have been allocated to locations outside Waikato so contribute to our case totals but are not listed in case locations. Figures include some cases residing outside Waikato. Ministry of Health’s daily reported cases may differ slightly from those reported at a DHB or local public health unit level. This is because of different reporting cut off times and the assignment of cases between regions, for example when a case is tested outside their usual region of residence.

NEED A TEST?

People should only get tested if they have cold or flu symptoms, have been identified as household contact of a positive COVID-19 case and need a day 3 or day 10 test, or have been asked to get tested by a health official.

The most common early symptoms of the Omicron variant are a sore or scratchy throat, and a runny nose.

Rapid antigen tests (RATs) are now the primary form of testing in the community for people who have symptoms or are a Household Contact. You can pick up a test at our community testing and RATs collection centres. We have opened up more COVID-19 community testing and RAT collection sites in the Waikato. The testing team will determine whether you need a rapid antigen test (RAT).

Very soon you will be able to order a free RAT home testing kit online or over the phone. More details to come.
