NZ Police have advised that a fatal motorcycle crash occurred at Makamako Road, between Raglan and Kawhia on Saturday, 10 October.
One person died and another has moderate injuries after two motorcycles collided on Makomako Road between Raglan and Kawhia just after 3pm today.
The man killed was a German national living in Auckland. Police say Daniel Aretz, who was 37, died when his BMW motorbike hit a group of riders heading the opposite direction between Kawhia and Raglan on Saturday.
They say it appears the collision happened as Mr Aretz and the group of riders were both going around a corner. He died at the scene. The police have not yet been able to speak to the other rider, who was taken to Waikato Hospital with moderate injuries.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to the scene to transport the injured to hospital but the most seriously injured rider, Mr Aretz, died at the scene. Mr Aretz’s death is the 11th fatal motorbike crash in Waikato this year.
The Police serious crash unit will be investigating.
