Main Road bus shelter missing for 5 weeks

The bus shelter on Main Road, Raglan at the corner of Manukau Road is missing. It was removed by Waikato District Council.

The Council seems to be unable to say if it will be replaced. On 15th June, Raglanite John Lawson, asked WDC about the bus shelter pointing out, “Bus shelter on Main Rd, Raglan needs roof replaced.”

John says he got a phone call from WDC to say they were working on it. He commented, “Now the shelter has gone, just as the worst of the weather is here.”

This week John asked WDC again about the missing bus shelter and hasn’t heard anything. He has now asked Community Board Chair, Gabrielle Parson to have a look at why the Council isn’t replacing the shelter.

John said, “Not only should the shelter be replaced (preferably not facing into the prevailing wind), but shelters are needed at other exposed stops such as near the Museum (that route was created to serve a site which never did function at the time the bus is there), on Government Rd and near the corner of Simon Rd.”
