Orca Restaurant has announced that it will be having a Sober October. It’s a tale that brings back memories of the first song to go Gold in Australia, The Pub With No Beer. Although in Slim Dusty’s 1957 song, the reason for no beer was that the delivery truck didn’t arrive, in Orca’s case they say that the situation is due to their liquor license expiring due to an oversight on their part. This means they won’t be serving any alcoholic drinks until their new license is issued.
In the meantime Orca will be embracing the situation with a theme month of Sober October. There will be an expanded range of mocktails, homemade lemonade and smoothies. The restaurant will be open as usual everyday for light meals and brunch until 4pm. In the evenings they’ll be open Friday to Monday nights with their spring menu during the unlicensed period.
When their liquor license is issued they’ll be having a bar reopening party. In the meantime head to Orca and enjoy Sober October. And perhaps a local muso will write a song to further celebrate the month.
