Last minute changes in Raglan CBD

Some last minute pre-Christmas changes in the Raglan CBD around Bow Street include the opening of a new cafe,  a new artist studio and headquarters for Soundsplash.

THE LOCAL EATERY at 6 Wallis St

The new cafe opened by Cheryl Beere, really a non cafe as it doesn’t have a noisy espresso machine , is THE LOCAL EATERY at 6 Wallis Street. Right next to the Herbal Dispensary, it is open 10am – 4pm daily, apart from the statutory holidays. The only coffee on offer is Vietnamese coffee. There are plenty of herbal teas and it is the place to go for  a juice or smoothie. And there is plenty of tasty and healthy food for the holiday season. They have lots of salsas and dips to take away, plus raw Xmas mince pies, lavender berry layer cheesecake, Mexican chocolate cheesecake, chocolate peanut butter cups and laksa noodle bowl, basmati whole grain bowl and yummy counter salads. Eat in or takeaway is available.

Soundsplash Office

Around the corner at 7 Wainui Road, the former Vinnies/ Valentes building is now the town office and headquarters for the Soundsplash Music Festival.  the doors are mainly closed at the moment but Brian Ruawai can be seen popping in and out.

Denise Fort’s studio

Right next door in the annex on the left of 7 Wainui Rd, artist Denise Fort has set up an art space with her works on display.
