Key Raglan parking project running late

The key project to help the parking shortage seen in Raglan every summer is still not complete. While Raglanders are pretty happy with the Waikato Council’s parking spaces in Raglan they are unhappy that this project was not completed as promised before the peak summer holiday period. A recent letter to the Chronicle congratulated the council on the way it was creating turf block parking areas in James St.

Last weekend’s hot weather saw big crowds in Raglan with cars and bikes once again parked on the Bow St median strip and cars spilling a round into Stewart Street onto the grass verge.

Hopefully Ngaruawahia will give urgency to completing the James St car parks before the long weekend visitor peaks that are coming up soon. And a sign pointing visitors to the extra parking would help.
