Karioi Maunga Restoration work expanded into Byrant Reserve

The Karioi Maunga restoration group say they have another exciting year ahead – trapping rats, stoats and possums on our Maunga. With a small grant from the Community Conservation Fund they will be able to expand the current small project down the mountain to the sea – into Bryant reserve. New tracks have been made throughout the reserve – including the Upper Wainui Reserve – so this is a great time to go check it out if you have not doen that already.

Kristel says she hopes that people will join the work again this year – setting and checking lines and says a little bit of time and enthusiasm is all you need. They would love to see you.

The group will be having a quick meeting on Thursday 18th February (next week) to regroup and chat about their plans. Meeting at 54 Upper Wainui Rd – 7.30 pm.
