Wednesday’s agenda follows a trend, which misses out several reports, or lacks information, or detail, as highlighted below. Should WED try to do anything (eg Official Information Act) about this trend, which leaves us in the dark about many decisions?
It includes –
- Sewage “public meeting and a series of drop-in events planned” [Tue 29 7pm Supper Room was mentioned, but not in agenda]
- Wharf – “Wharf Sub Structure – This is progressing as a project separate to the PGF funding. The wharf project we will be concerned with urgent work should it be identified.” “Pontoon [design not in agenda] – two design build companies have tendered. Bellingham Marine and Heron Marinas . .. WDC plan to award contract before the end of the financial year, 30 June” “West Walkway/hand rail and safety requirements – The design [design not in agenda] phase of this work has gone out to tender ”. Harbour Infrastructure Study – “Beca have presented their scope document” [not in RCB agenda]
- Manu Bay Breakwater – “An independent report on the breakwater was provided[not in RCB agenda] to the Forum on Friday, 11 June. Councils Community Project Manager and the project manager responsible for Manu Bay breakwater will attend the June Community Board meeting to respond to any questions.”
- Coastal Reserves “planning a meeting with WDC staff.” [no other detail]
- School road safety – councillor had meeting. [no other detail]
- Soundsplash – RCB ask to be updated on resource consent application.
- Local bus – “It is proposed to initiate this service by tender in August”, but not clear if “Mr Bains and Mr Rayner would work with the Senior Transport Engineer as part of the working group” have done “The next stage . .. to develop a route and timetabling option for Waikato Regional Council to . . . be completed by second week of May.”
- Closure of path across the airfield – “an independent aviation consultant will review”. [no information about who]
- Footpaths and Rose St parking – “Staff will provide an update”. Campground to footbridge plan shows a route with lots of bends, well away from the beach and close to one of the soccer pitches.
- Places for People – Bow Stparklets and road art being put in – official opening by mayor 1pm Thu 24 June. Approval to occupy parking spaces until 30 March. Evaluation forms will be on RCB website.
- Gilmour St “A late request to renew the water services for the street has also been accommodated . . . complete the full urban road upgrade by end of July.”.
- Rangitahi road names proposed – Arapatiki, Tunarua, Ruruhi, Pae Kotare, Kapokapowai, Kawakawa, Koromiko, Rerekahu.

- RCB submission to Long Term Plan – included biomethane from food waste composting, doubling of water supply costs, support for boat ramp fee, Soundsplash fee, aerodrome landing fee,
- Hikotron – “Mr Rayner and Mr Oosten to keep in contact”.
- Raglan Naturally – verbal report.
- Climate Response & Resilience Action Plan no change.
- Civil Defence Emergency Management no change.
- Camera Licensing Trust no change.
- Whaingaroa Raglan Affordability Project – No report again.
- Discretionary fund has $8,589. Applications close on the first Friday of July.
Issues missing from the agenda are Bay View Rd railing, phased rates increase as Raglan valuations will increase rates by about 14%, stormwater, Freedom Camping, Wainui Rd wooden footbridge, parking signs to James St, Town Hall Warrant of Fitness, unsealed roading [a meeting was held last week], Calvert Rd parking, Government Rd/ Bayview stop signs, Greenslade Rd junction, Park Dr safety measures, Lorenzen Bay playground, Cliff St one-way and footpath, Te Uku Recycling, Whāingaroa Catchment Management Plan, dog & horse issues, Hills Rd water tower, glyphosate, volunteer worker safety, coastguard lease, Puriri Park, weedbusters, Joyce Petchell and Puriri Park toilets to be wrapped with environment messaging and.
