Jun 19: Raglan Community Board meeting in Town Hall

The next Raglan Community Board meeting is Wed 19 June at 1.30pm in Raglan Town Hall. The public forum will be near the start of the formal meeting, giving an opportunity to discuss issues. You might prefer to email/phone the Board.

Wednesday’s agenda omits some information, but it includes –

  1. 2024-2025 Enhanced Annual PlanVerbal. – see AP decisions 4/6
    1. trial lights on Wainui Bridge “deferred . . . The need to undertake this trial was identified in the Raglan Transport Study, to support the local network and maintain a level of service, particularly during peak periods. . . Given the slow down of development to the west of Wainui Bridge over the past 12-months, staff support deferring this project and will review the timing as part of the LTP considerations.”
    2. Works have recently been carried out at Te Hutewai Road including over 600t of metal and associated drainage works, clearing culverts, surface water channels
    3. Whaanga Road is programmed for grading and surface water channel clearing in June 2024.
    4. Mode-share is an important aspect of our transport network and we will continue to fund diversity of modes as appropriate. However, primarily our funding is spent on the core activity of renewing and maintaining our roads and associated assets.
    5. Council is unaware of the community becoming ill as a direct result of the current treated effluent discharge. Warning signs are erected at the estuary discharge point advising against swimming, fishing or collecting of shellfish from the surrounding area.
  2. Stormwater Management Committeewill program the appropriate meetings” [the last Raglan Stormwater Liaison Group was on 29 June 2023 as p24 of WGB agenda – do you want to be at the next?]
  3. Wastewater Network CCTV Update 14 of 25 maps show pipes from Flax Cove to Bow St, via the school have been checked and repairs made. No mention of the other 11 maps.
  4. Manu Bay BreakwaterTim the facilitator at Collaborative Solutions is organising a half-day Options Assessment – Workshop 4 meeting with the stakeholder representatives in July”.
  5. Wi Neera WalkwayArborist work has been completed to remove several low hanging branches. Watercare have also completed the replacement of the watermain . . . Earthworks in preparation for concrete pours are underway. The 2.8m footpath and balustrade will complete by the end of July”. No mention of the southern part of the walkway.
  6. Civil Defence meeting in April or May now, “in the coming months.
  7. CCTVWorking with the business owner on hashing out the MOU details.
  8. Te Uku Recycling Centre further details of survey – 14% of users from areas beyond Whāingaroa, complaints of bins being full and untidy site.
  9. Greenslade Rd Reserve playgroundWorking with Ed McVicar on a market analysis to get a nature play design. . . the community have clearly indicated that they would prefer a nature play area rather than a traditional playground at this location. The project will be scoped for delivery in 2024/25.
  10. Wainui Beach & Papahua Recreation Reserve car parks Surf Club Parking, One Way exit up the hill, and the top carpark . . . will be completed in the coming months . . . The road between Papahua Campground and the end car park (excluding boat ramp parking) will be repaired and widened in the coming months.
  11. Soundsplash RCB met on 14 June to discuss something about it.
  12. Community Board PlansMeeting was booked for 16 May”.
  13. Privet no update.
  14. Councillors Reports, Board Members’ Reports Verbal.
  15. Discretionary fund has $725. The Area School wants $500, or $1,000 to make up for cuts in suicide prevention funding.

Waters Governance Board 19/6

  • The power outage of greater than 48 hours in Raglan resulted in overflows and challenges due to poor communication from Wel Energy.
  • Raglan WTP spring raw water quality is excellent and stable. Raglan ranges from 0 to 1.00 ntu”.
  • The investigation into a disposal option for sub-surface dripper land disposal on the Wainui reserve is complete, and the concept report has been received. A further option is being looked at for the Wainui reserve, which would look at land contact discharge through a planted area.  Beca has been engaged to develop this concept.
  • Raglan Wastewater Treatment Plant Consent Application.Preparation Project – Discharge Optioneering Update – public excluded.
