Jun 12: Raglan Community Board meeting

The next Board meeting is Tuesday 12 June at 2pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 1.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues, but you can also contact the Community Board members who are:- Alan VinkBob MacLeodGabrielle ParsonLisa ThomsonPJRangi KereopaTony Oosten.

The agenda includes –

  1. Bus route proposed to change from Bow St, Norrie Av to James, Bankart, Wainui Rd, “due to community desire to serve the i-SITE, and the need to avoid the pohutukawa trees on Bow Street with the double decker . . . a bus stop in the CBD when there is a lack of parking during summer months may be not be the best utilisation of parking space. It is therefore recommended that this parking area is returned to car parking and buses are directed to the new bus stop outside the Museum/i-site”. DD to be 15 mins slower and used only at 6.55 and 3.40.

  2. Replacement toilets to be ordered in June with plain finish for artists to work on.

  1. Long Term Plan – verbal update.

  2. Carpark Extensions – drawings show extensions over grassed areas either side of museum, subject to archaeologist review (including 4 for camper vans) and at “Kopua Domain” (‘Papahua‘ presentation in councillor’s report). Stormwater pipes to be extended in carparks, but no mention of pollutants.

  3. Raglan Kopua Holiday Park Board – Jeanette Tyrell appointed as Community Representative.

  4. Parking changes – staff recommend request for public consultation on “potential for the CBD to convert to angle parking with Wainui Road being left turn only and the crossing areas for vehicles in the middle of Bow Street being removed. . .. there may be the opportunity to convert them into motorcycle parking. . . Making Cliff Street one way would better manage traffic in this area and could allow for the potential of introducing additional parking on one side” Also other changes at wharf and Bow St as previously suggested. Pay and display would need to be approved by Annual Plan.

  5. Cemetery – road built. Gate to be added.

  6. Stormwater – tender negotiations with sole tenderer.

  7. Sewage spills – 1 overflow in April, 20 during year. Hydrotech completing survey.

  8. Raglan Naturally 11 focus groups and 60 volunteers. Report on Treaty workshop. RN/RCB MOU.

  9. Safety Railings on Wainui Bridge – engineer to speak at meeting.

  10. Wharf safety rails – work to start by end of June – dolphin rails as on footbridge.

  11. Whale Bay Access Way delayed by weather.

  12. Lighting – 6 June work completed.

  13. Wi Neera St drain – “Watching brief until new financial year”.

  14. Youth Engagement – met on 10 May.

  15. Housing Symposium in Wellington – Cr Lisa to attend pay from Discretionary fund, which has $206. Area School want $1,450.00 for senior school ball. Deadline for next fund applications Mon 6/7.

Raglan Coastal Reserves 14 May minutes not on agenda.

Should WED be taking up these or other issues missing from the agenda, such as cutting trees on reserves, glyphosate, Trails Strategy ($278,280 to be spent in 2018), volunteer worker safety, parking infringement money, harbour lease, coastguard lease, Puriri Park, cycleways, or land disposal of sewage?
