Raglan Community Board in action

The next Board meeting is Tuesday 10 June at 6pm in the Town Hall Supper Room. The public forum starts at 5.30pm, giving an opportunity to discuss issues,

The agenda is at http://waidc.govt.nz/CMSFiles/88/886b8e92-12d6-40e9-90fc-c901ab9a942e.pdf. Items on the agenda include –

  1. CBD extension to be notified in October. Recommend a July workshop to discuss planning issues.
  2. Community Board performance to be discussed with the public excluded.
  3. Rugby ground lighting – a rotten post fell over last month. New lights will cost $110,000, but “no funds available”.
  4. Library/office completion mid July due to rust found. Interior design by Placemaking group.
  5. Riki Spring water treatment works upgrade to be finished mid July (was June).
  6. Sewage works feasibility study completed. 9 recommendations to avoid another spill. Works to be planned for Long Term Plan. [Another WDC report says the works is high risk. “Whilst some automation work has already been carried out to prevent a re-occurrence of the recent spill event. monitoring of overall plant performance is required. It is intended that initial work will focus on the review and re-introduction of the stage one anaerobic ponds to enhance aerobic pond performance, improve instrumentation and control within the aerobic ponds and improved maintenance activities, Success from these actions should improve overall effluent quality in the final storage pond and improve the chances of complying with consents. If these measures are successful then further capital investment maybe required on the anaerobic ponds. eg lining them to avoid any long term environmental exposure. Odour issues may result from recommissioning the anaerobic ponds (and the primary reason their use was stopped initially). but if the resultant impact is that these ponds enhance overall effluent quality then odour issues will need to be addressed. If the review and reintroduction of the anaerobic ponds demonstrates minimal to no improvement, alternative processes will need to be investigated and additional capital spend may be required in alternative process options.”
  7. Whaanga Coast sewage to be completed in June, with reinstatement in July.
  8. Customer Report Management – In 11 months there have been 16 dog attacks, 114 water leaks and 89% of cases dealt with within target time.
  9. Community Safety to be discussed.
  10. Coastal Reserves Committee minutes of 14 April and 12 May. [last night’s meeting heard of Vodafone plans to upgrade the trans Tasman fibre optic cable link]
  11. Kopua Holiday Park accounts show estimated annual profit of $393,520.
  12. Discretionary fund still has $5,134. Unpaid commitments total $11,557, for Placemaking, Dolphin day, radio, sculptures and cigarette bins. The Toy Library wants $1,003.

Then a mystery public excluded item.

Let me know if you think WED should be taking up other issues not on the agenda, eg report on 1 Wi Neera St requested at RCB workshop.

Thanks

John Lawson
