Jul 19: Rock formations of Aotea Harbour coming up for Raglan Ramblers

On July 19th, Aotea Harbour is next up for Raglan Ramblers. In their walk they’ll be visiting the many unique rock formations on its south shore.

There are cliffs, stacks, caves, arches, islands and large overhangs. A few fossils can also be seen. Often a lot of birds are feeding on the mud flats, including black swans and sometimes spoonbills. This is a walk mainly along the shoreline (with a slightly muddy option of walking to oddly shaped islets), about four kilometres each way. Please bring your lunch.

Walks usually start 9am, Wednesdays from Wainui Rd car park (next to Raglan Fire Station). There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Check out Raglan Ramblers on Facebook

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
