Heavy rain and severe easterly gales have eased.

Heavy rain and severe easterly gales have eased, and all Warnings and
Watches have been lifted.

Raglanites need to keep an eye out for inundation of low lying areas today Sunday 15th July. We are in the King tide period from 12th to 18th July and heavy rain is forecast. The highest tide will be at 11.32pm on Sunday night after a day of heavy rain.

A Strong Wind Warning has been issued by the MetService:

Strong wind gusts could damage trees, powerlines and unsecured structures. Driving may be hazardous, especially for high-sided vehicles and motorcycles.

Area: Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty from Whakatane westwards, and Waikato
Valid: 9 hours from 9:00am to 6:00pm Sunday
Forecast: Severe easterly gales with damaging gusts of 130 km/h in exposed places.

Note: King tides are also forecast during this time, and when combined with strong easterly winds and large northeast waves, coastal areas exposed to the north and east could suffer from inundation by the sea.
