Jan 31: Raglan Ramblers visit the wind farm from Vandy Rd

On 31st January, Raglan Ramblers will be visiting Te UKu Wind farm from Vandy Rd. This is the shortest route to the top. It follows an old road, started in the 1890s, though never completed. It hasn’t been maintained since the 1930s, so it can be muddy; hopefully it won’t rain much before the walk! A mix of bush and good views, including the view in the photo across bush, all the way to Pirongia, as well as the huge 130.5 m. high, 2.2MW turbines. Please bring your lunch.

There is no membership – the only cost is 10 cents per km to share travel costs. Details from John 825 7866. Most walks start at 9am from the James St/ Wallis St corner near Catholic church.

Each “Rambler” accepts responsibility for any accident or injury received while travelling, or walking over private property. Be prepared – carry enough food, clothing, first aid kit for emergencies and preferably a mobile phone.
