Singer/songwriter Jackie Bristow is a southern girl at heart. Born and bred in the South Island of New Zealand this Kiwi has found her wings.
Beautiful songbird that she is, Jackie has flown halfway around the world with nothing more than her guitar and a dream. Jackie is the real thing. She lives and breathes music and her dream is coming true.
Over the past year, with talent, experience and hard work, Jackie has established herself in Austin ,Texas, a vibrant music town steeped in the blues and rock and roll.
In 2009 she toured Texas, Japan,and Australia, and is about to hit the road in New Zealand with a new CD “FREEDOM” soon to be released in 2010.

Bristow offers roots music that is fresh and modern and uniquely her own. She is a fantastic performer live and has floored the audience when opening shows for Madeleine Peyroux , Phoebe Snow, Jimmy Webb, Daniel Lanois, who said, from the stage, “she sings like a bird” Art Garfunkel, Renee Geyer and Mark Seymour. Since living in Austin Jackie is a regular performer at the One World Theatre where she has performed the pre-concert shows for Shawn Colvin, Ricky Skaggs, Rodney Crowell, Richie Havens. Jackie plays regulalry at the legendary Cactus café opening for Austin’s own Bob Schneider. Her songs have been used repeatedly in Australian and New Zealand film and television hit shows such as “The Secret Life Of Us,” “Home And Away”, “Outrageous Fortune,” “Shortland Street,” and “Go Big.” Her song “This is Australia” won Tourism Australia’s Song Competition and has been featured in a worldwide promotion campaign. Inspired by her music teacher, Jackie began singing in choir at age 8 in Gore her hometown in Southland New Zealand. Jackie sang with her sister Katrina, and the “Bristow Sisters,” were seasoned pros by the time Jackie was 14. In 1995 she headed to Australia, working as a daytime nanny, singing late at night in often lonely clubs. In 2000, her song reel reached the desk of Michael Gudinski, who signed her to write for Mushroom Music ,and record for Liberation Records.

 

Liberation Records released several hit singles and a well-received debut album, “THIRSTY.” In 2005 Jackie signed to Sydney label Craving Records, and moved to Los Angeles to make her second record “CRAZY LOVE”, a very fine collection of well crafted and haunting songs. In 2007 Jackie signed a publishing with Native Tongue. In 2009 Tsunami Music released CRAZY LOVE in Japan. At once heartfelt and sophisticated, Jackie Bristow combines subtle but beautiful melodies and hooks that hypnotize the listener, demand complete surrender and then stick around with the backbone of a real friend..
