International engineering company hired to manage Raglan Wharf project

Raglan Wharf Upgrade Project news

Waikato District Council and Raglan Community Board have hired international engineering company BECA to manage the Raglan Wharf project. The company with 21 offices around the world including Hamilton will run through the early stages of the project.

BECA was the company who designed and managed the 2011 repair work on Raglan Wharf costing $635,096. At the time WDC said, “The Raglan Wharf is now as strong as it was when it was built in 1916. Repairs to the underlying wharf structure were completed last week on time and below the original budget. The contractor, HEB Structures have completed the work to a very high standard and performed well given the change in scope and some very challenging tidal conditions.”

So far the Raglan Wharf project team has talked to a number of groups in the Raglan community to come up with some options that best fit the wharf and how it is used.

Representatives from the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, who allocated $2.5 million towards the project, have visited as part of their tour of projects in the area.

  1. This is sad. The council hasn’t looked into this very well. The engineer looking after the job will be based anywhere but Hamilton and a junior based in Hamilton will come to Raglan and do the reports. Watch the budget people
