Ideal weather for record breaking Karioi Classic

Sunday 28th delivered ideal conditions for the tenth edition of the Karioi Classic cycle race round Mount Karioi. There were 435 entrants with 395 cyclists finishing the races around Mount Karioi.

The number of entrants set a new record and two new all time records were set with Logan Griffin having the fastest time now on the 85km and Alex Fierro having the fastest on the the 57km.

The race base was the Raglan Old School Arts Centre in Stewart St, with the start at the Wainui Road end of Stewart Street. For the first time there was a race for E-bikes. The finish was on the airfield, near the entrance to Raglan Holiday Park.

The 85km race started at 8.30am with the Logan Griffin across the line first.
The 57km race at 9.30am saw Alex Fierro winning.
The winner of the new E-bike race was Tim Carey.
And Luke Kivell was the winner for the Classic 43km.

Competitors in the 43 km race begin to line up in Stewart Street under the watchful eye of Lisa Thomson
