Earlier this week the first sections of multi-coloured handrail were fastened to the new Kopua footbridge. HEB Construction are also working on finishing the raised footpath at the Raglan end of the bridge.
The $3.1 million bridge is being built by HEB Structures for the Waikato District Council. It is wider than the old bridge and will allow pedestrians and cyclist to pass on the bridge. The new bridge is being built to the north of the present bridge. We’ve heard on the grapevine that the bridge will be open for pedestrians about the middle of September. HEB Structures will then start work dismantling the old bridge.
