A tourist missing on Christmas Day, spent Monday night on Raglan’s Mt Karioi. On Tuesday morning she found her own way out on Te Hutewai Road. A local at the farm house she went to let the police know. She was a little shaken but “safe and well”.
The 39 year old woman from Germany, called police for help around 5pm on Christmas Day, Waikato police Senior Sergeant Jason McKay said.
She had gone for a walk on Mount Karioi and become lost while descending from the summit.
Police Land Search and Rescue members, assisted by the police Eagle helicopter, spent the night searching. They continued looking for her into the morning until they received the call letting them know the woman had made it out of the bush.
